Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan received H. E. Abbas Badakhshan Zohuri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia

Noting the importance of the Armenian-Iranian relations for the two countries, the parties emphasized that the intensity of high-level meetings attests to the development and effective cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Zohuri noted that the Armenian-Iranian relations, having noticeably transformed qualitatively during recent years, represent a successful model of cooperation. Both sides underlined their appreciation for the high level of trade which has grown significantly over the past year.

Ambassador Zohuri expressed concern over the recent issues regarding the use of infrastructure linking Iran to Armenia. Touching upon the importance of uninterrupted operation of the infrastructure connecting Iran and Armenia, Secretary Grigoryan emphasized that Armenia is fully aware of the sensitivity of this issue for its Iranian partners and attaches utmost importance to the quick solution of the issue.

Referring to the matter of cargo transportation from India to the Black Sea, both sides emphasized the importance of the Iranian Chabahar seaport, as well as highlighting Armenia’s role as an important link in this route.

The parties also discussed issues related to the intensification of security, economic and energy cooperation between the two countries.
