Secretary of the Security Council of Armen Grigoryan interview at the "Herankar" pavilion at Shant TV

04 / 12 / 2019

During the interview the ideas of the new National Security Strategy and the process of its elaboration, regional and geopolitical developments, Armenia's space initiatives, Artsakh issue and domestic political developments of Azerbaijan were discussed.

Herankar- First I want to start with the Security Strategy, which is in the development phase. Was there such a document, and what was the need for it to be updated?

A. Grigoryan - Such a document was written in 2007, but since 2007 many changes have taken place both in the region and in Armenia.
Significant changes have been made in Russia-West relations, as has the 2008 crisis in Russian-Georgian relations. There have also been other changes in the region, including sanctions on Iran, as well as inside and outside of Armenia, the April war and the revolution of 2018, which can be said to have brought fundamental changes in both Armenia and the region and there was a need for a new document.
In this sense, it also took some time for us to understand where we were going in terms of strategy and to formulate strategic documents, it took some time for us to enter a more relaxed phase and at a more relaxed stage we could discuss our strategies.
